swept away from Making A Lather

I finished piecing the sea swept cornerstone blocks at Friday quilt group.

And then I had to trim them. I used the studio 180 squared squared to trim them.

And then I counted them - sigh, I am 6 short. hmm- maybe I had the steps backward. haha

But, they are beautiful and I am so pleased.

Sue is back to Friday group after covid. We have missed her.

and I gave Linda her quilt back after quilting it. It was a beauty.

I am linking:

moving on with sea swept from Making A Lather

I have all the snails trail blocks finished for sea swept. And it was time to figure out how I was going to make the sashings without a pattern. The actual pattern is for paper piecing, and my blocks are machine pieced and larger than the pattern makes.

Linda's 3 and mine

I remembered a template I have from studio 180 and I could even find it... hooray. But, I wasn't sure how to make it a double square in a square. You tube told me,   I needed the technique sheet with a chart. While I was purchasing ...

Weekly update: something new from With Strings Attached

I've had Patchwork with Pizzazz for more than a decade. (Author Lisa Bergene is Norwegian.  The original title is Kreative Lappe Ideer Vesker og Bager.)  I pulled  the book off the shelf a couple of days ago and one of the designs began to jump up and down and holler, "Try me!"  I couldn't resist.

The blocks use split rectangle units. I have probably made them sometime along the way but I know I haven't used them as a significant component of an entire quilt.  I remember being put off by the fussy tedium of the bias ...

Split Stars {Finished Quilt} from Little Bunny Quilts

While I made this quilt top all the way back in August, I didn't get it finished until November.

This quilt was a gift for our friends who also had a baby boy this fall!

I did a simple meander for the quilting and used the coordinating fabrics for the border and the binding. For the backing, I used blue and white plaid flannel.

James let me borrow his crib to model the quilt I made for his new best friend!

Quilt Stats:

Name: Split Stars Baby Quilt

Pattern: Self designed

Fabrics: Venetian Tiles fabric line from Island Batik ...

Fun~fetti from From the Strawberry Patch...

Fun~fetti ~ 56" X 70"This one named itself as it took form, it reminds me of rainbow sprinkles scattered into white cake batter and vintage, long-ago birthday parties. I got this top together from Box #2-- the stack of numbered UFO's waiting patiently for me in the stash closet. This box already contained a decent size stack of low volume shaded nine patch blocks along with the remains of a jelly

Split Stars Quilt Top {Try A Tool with Island Batik} from Little Bunny Quilts

Finally an update for my August Island Batik project!

I finished up all of my blocks and turned them into a top! I'm not sure what kind of border this one will have. Maybe light blue?

While it was a bit of a learning curve to use the V-block ruler, it did work out well for these blocks. I liked that I could also use the V-block ruler to trim my HSTs too instead of needing to switch between rulers.

This might be as far as this project gets this month; I have two blog hop projects to work ...

Try a Tool with Studio 180 Design {August IBA Challenge} from Little Bunny Quilts

This month's Island Batik Ambassador challenge is to "try a tool" with Studio 180 Design!

I've never used any of these rulers so this was a new adventure for me! I received the V Block ruler and trimmer. To start I watched the very helpful introductory video featuring designer Deb Tucker using this ruler. You can see that video here.

For my project I decided to use my V block ruler with the Venetian Tiles precut and yardage I received in my most recent IB Ambassador box.

I pulled in a little extra fabric and will use the ...

Unboxed: My Second 2020 {Island Batik Ambassador} Box! from Little Bunny Quilts

I'm so excited to show off the things that came in my second Island Batik Ambassador shipment for 2020!

First off -- batting from Hobbs bonded fibers! Let me tell you -- living in sort of the middle of no where, it is so nice to have a few battings on hand and not have to make a special trip out to buy one, which I used to have to do quite often! I'm excited to play with the fusible batting roll -- is a jelly roll rug in my future?

I have two "surprise" packages that are soon-to-be released lines ...

All American from From the Strawberry Patch...

All American ~ 60" X 60"I didn't quite succeed in getting this patriotic quilt top pieced by Flag Day this year, but almost! I saw this pattern a few months ago online and knew that this was the quilt that I wanted to make as a wallhanging for brick wall out on the new porch, it will hang over the drop-leaf game table that Mr. Goodneedle is building-- the colors are perfect and I believe that the

Triangle Tuesday from From the Strawberry Patch...

I'm a sucker for alliteration-- that's why "Triangle Tuesday" sounded so appealing. Yep, I've been stitching up tons and tons of triangles! These triangles are actually composed from squares. Squares marked and chain-stitched into an endless train that will eventually be cut apart into a mountain of half-square-triangles. These are small, the smaller the unit the higher the chances for error --

There's A Simpler Way! from From the Strawberry Patch...

I pieced these blocks eight and a half years ago. I believe the reason that I abandoned the project was because I drafted templates for those setting corners and it wasn't the easiest task to piece these. The results were good, but, apparently, I wearied from the task. My inspiration for this project came from this antique quilt that I recall seeing at a Guild show and tell; I was smitten. I
